My Blog/Blogosphere Essay

My blog was created with the concept of addictions. I had planned on devoting my blog to things that I had found addicting and I manage to in the most part. I found websites and video games that keep MY attention and keeps it for long periods of time. You can ask my girlfriend. Call of Duty is the devil as far as she is concerned. I tried to make my blog aesthetically pleasing by adding a Batman: The Dark Knight template, a popular movie by anyone’s standards.
Later, my blog turned into a plug center for my videos that I wanted to get views for on my Youtube page. Whether or not that was the reason my video now has over ten thousand views is no matter. I also fell victim to needing posts due to grade issues and maybe put down some “thrown together” blog posts just to get something on the page for my grade.
I could not decide between two posts as my favorite. The first being the blog post about a site called Sporcle.com. I had just heard about the site the day I posted on the blog. I think this made it easier to post and easier to roll with it. I was so excited about the site and just let that excitement flow into the blog post. Being in moods really adds to your blog posts. People can tell what mood you are in through your page.
The second post I thought was tied for the best was my blog about my top ten favorite shows. I think I posted it on a Tuesday so I did not even need a blog post. The post kind of just came to me. I was watching Arrested Development and was thinking about how many people probably didn’t even know about the show. It was on for three seasons. So, I thought I would get the word out and not just about Arrested Development but also about some of my other favorite shows. I have so many. I like this blog post because it, more than any, gives a close look at myself and my personality. I think you can really tell a lot about a person from which shows they watch. The list included a balanced mix of serious and comedic shows.
The blogosphere, to me, completely makes sense. It is right there in the name. BlogoSPHERE. Spheres are circular and that is exactly how I think the blogosphere works. Blog sites and blog rolls create an inner connective community. Blogs are so open that anybody can drop in, read, and share. You don’t need a membership or any money. It is an online journal that you want other people to read. It is a site all your own where you are in control and you say what matters. I don’t know the facts, but I think you can probably follow a blog roll through to reach almost anybody and then trace it all the way back to your blog. The circular properties coming back into play.

Weird Dream

Last night I had a strange dream where my friend Brad ,who doesn't go to Ball State but did in my dream, and I decided to ride bikes from Washington to Ball State which is 4 hours in a car. Well, we stopped about half way and then my mom came to pick me up and then some employee from gamefly was with her and handed me some Sonic game for the 360. I told him angrily that I have had Resident Evil 5 on my list for 3 weeks and still haven't received it and then I woke up.

Bob Loblaw

So I was thinking about my favorite tv shows and I'm sure many of you were wondering what they are. Don't lie. You were. So here are my top ten.
1. Scrubs - best show ever created by anyone ever. mixes the perfect amount of funny and serious moments to take your heart and mind to new places
2. Arrested Development - It's like scrubs set in a household and starring a family
3. Flight of the Conchords - two new zealanders make up the folk band of Flight of the Conchords and try to make it here in America... HILARIOUS! both the songs and the skits.
4. America's Best Dance Crew - best talent search show. epic dancing with a different theme every episode. they found the jabbawockeez
5. Heroes - I didn't believe it would be good and this year my roomate made me watch it with him and its pretty damn sweet. although i started in the third season its all good. easy to pick up
6. American Idol - i like music. and if watching this show makes me gay, then so be it. there are some talented people.
I know i said ten but you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. lesson learned.

Movie Review

Slumdog Millionaire Review

Slumdog Millionaire has easily become the most talked about movie of the year. At the Academy Awards it won eight of the ten awards it was nominated for, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Cinematography. It is winning the hearts of moviegoers across the country and all the prestige is rightfully due.

I went to see Slumdog Millionaire the weekend it arrived in theatres. It was a clear night but snow covered the roads so I had to kick my jeep into four-wheel drive. My roommate Shane accompanied me as we carefully reached our destination at the Showplace 12 in Muncie. It was the second day the movie was out so the theatre was pretty packed and the entry line was long.

We finally made it into the theatre and picked our seats in the fourth row from the back and dead center. We watched the previews and talked about which movies we need to go see when they come out. Finally, the picture we came to see pops up on the giant screen and our journey begins.

Slumdog Millionaire is a love story, an action flick, a thriller, and a little bit of a documentary all in one. It follows Malik, a former street child from an Indian slum, who has made it to the final question on an Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. The Movie began as Malik was being tortured and questioned due to an accusation of cheating. The movie jumps back and forth between the interrogation and Malik’s past. His experiences in life help him answer each question during the show. You find out the whole reason he goes on to the show is to use the “phone a friend” lifeline to call a lost love.

The movie was one of the best I have ever seen. It tells a beautiful story while displaying India with amazing realism. I highly recommend seeing the movie in theatres but if you miss your chance than it is a one hundred percent “buy” on DVD.

New Website Causes Widespread Addiction

Okay readers of this blog (I know there aren't many). This is serious! Remember addictinggames? You don't? Where have you been? Well this website beats it. It's called Sporcle and it's the best thing since Sega Genesis. The whole website is full of quizzes about trivial things such as X-Men characters, or Saturday Night Live hosts. I think two examples is enough. Let's continue. My friend Kevin showed it to me tuesday before classes and I deeply considered skipping to continue racking my brain for top selling Xbox 360 titles. (Sorry prof) I can't stop. And the worst thing about it... THEY UPDATE DAILY! Yes, I said daily (that means every day) which also means that more and more of my life is sucked away. Time usually spent with the girlfriend (yes, I have a girlfriend. Sorry fella's) or time spent studying, or even time spent playing Call of Duty: World at War (previously mentioned). If somehow people outside of this class stumble upon this blog, I encourage you, pre-warned, to visit this website.
